The Kandy Dalada Perahera, or the Festival of the Tooth, is one of Sri Lanka’s most vibrant and significant cultural events, held annually in Kandy. Celebrated in July or August, the festival honors the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha, believed to bring prosperity and protection to the nation. The grand procession features a spectacular display of traditional dancers, drummers, and beautifully adorned elephants, all parading through the streets of Kandy.
